CORDEX Europe
Wegener Center - finished Scientists from all over the world working on the European modeling domain are joint in the EURO-CORDEX community. The different groups are employing different regional climate models as to establish a common ensemble of climate projections as large as possible.
Model domain
For Europe, the simulations are performed on a rotated grid with the pole at 162°W longitude and 39.25°N latitude. The domain covers approximately the region from about 22°W to 45°E longitude and 27°N to 72°N latitude.

In order to increase the reproducibility of the simulation results and to avoid misinterpretation of the results the COSMO-CLM model grid for the CORDEX-EU domain is given in the following table together with the definition of the recommended external parameter data file (You are not authorised to download.).

Highlights
The figure shows the mean seasonal and mean annual temperature bias (1989-2008) [K] of the ERA-Interim driven EURO-CORDEX ensemble for the European sub-domains Eastern Europe (EA), Iberian Peninsula (IP), Central Europe (ME), and Scandinavia (SC). Filled circles: 12 km grid width, open circles: 50 km grid width. The gray bars denote the bias range of the ERA40-driven ENSEMBLES experiement (25 km grid width) in the period 1981-2000: entire range in light gray, inter-quartile range (corresponding to eight models) in dark gray and median as solid line.

High resolution runs at 0.11° (approx. 12 km)
An evaluation run was performed by BTU Cottbus using ERAinterim data (Dee et al., 2011) as boundary forcing for the time period 1989 - 2008. To establish an ensemble of climate projections different forcing GCMs and greenhouse gas scenarios (RCPs) listed in the table below were employed.
Data of the published runs are stored in EGSF data archive.

- Forcing: EC-EARTH, r12i1p1., RCP2.6
- Figures show climate change signals(CCS) for far future (2071-2100) relative to period 1971-2000 in 8 PRUDENCE/ENSEMBLES regions and for the whole model domain (EU)Left figures: CCS (K) for temperature in 2m height
- Right figures: CCS (%) for total precipitation
- First row :comparison of CCLM results with the results from RCA and RACMO simulations performed by SMHI and KNMI, respectively, which also used EC-EARTH, r12i1p1, RCP2.6 as driving GCM (red: CCLM, blue: RCA, green: RACMO)
- Second row: comparison of CCLM, RCP2.6, results with the results of CCLM simulations that used RCP4.5 and RCP8.5 (green: CCLM_RCP2.6, blue: CCLM_RCP4.5, red: CCLM_RCP8.5)
